Ok... Every year when the weather starts to get a little colder and we get into autumn/winter time, my car starts playing up, its done it 3 years in a row that i've had it, i've had it looked at each year and it stops doing it, then like i said we get round to this time and it starts up again... what happens is.. pulling away generally is fine, but when i get up to 30 and am just cruising at that speed, the engine starts to sort of chug a bit, as if i'm maybe taking my foot off the accelerator and putting it back on but in a short, sharp movement, some times it does it a lot, some times it doesn't but i want to know whats causing it, its sort of like its pulling back on me, does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this, or where i could look?
Thanks all Joe

I take it all plugs, points, cap, rotor arm, leads are all in top condition, and as it's starting to get cold you have moved the air filter divert to pick up warm air from the manifold?
Carbs are crap on these, unless it's in top condition and has been set up correctly

needs a bigger motor, or even a more reliable modern engine.

Ok, well i don't think i will be selling it any time soon and i'm pretty sure its not terminal, and i want to keep it original so newer engine is out of the question (for that reason, and money)
I have moved the air filter divert yes, plugs, leads and the condensor was replaced last year (and something else that i can't remember) My mechanic said that he thinks the points need setting up again or something? (I'm not very technical with this sort of stuff so some of what i'm saying may be wrong) but i guess i'll give it to him to have a look, seeing as it doesn't sound like anyone else has had the same problem and can tell me what needs fixing to save faffing, thanks anyway guys

you need to find an old school garage with a crypton tuning machine, and an oldish mechanic whos into setting up these old motors.
