At this very moment, im attempting to wire up the starting/charging system for the XE in my Kadett C. Its going to be running on R1 carbs so no ECU. Im trying to keep it as simple as possible and use as much original wiring as possible to a. save time b. save money! When I took the old 1.2 out about a year ago, i remember cutting 4 wires which was the loom for the old engine, which is essentially what I want to use to start it up. But being silly, I forgot to make note of what is what! Red THICK Black with red THICK Blue/white Yellow with a black coming off it The engine loom on the XE is actually robbed off a 2.0 8v Carlton. I chopped off the plug and left with these wires. Brown Black/Red THICK blue/green Blue blue/white thin blue/red thin Also i have wired up the coil running my front mounted belt driven Manta distributor, but I have one black wire (with a plug on the left). Which should this be wired to? Can anyone of you guys work out what I can do to mate all this up so I can start off the key. My head gets ultra confused when it comes to electrics!! Any help would be very much appriciated.

hi can help with the kadett wiring
red- 4mm starter- 12v feed for cars loom(put on to battery)
red black -1.5mm solenoid actuation(starter motor to work solenoid)
blue white- .75mm battery light alternator(how many wires on you alternator- this one your lamp) yell/black, should have came off the coil,yellow finish at coil and black down to the starter( this looks like feed to coil but remember its resistance wire which if irc should be 6v? might be worth to re run a new wire from ing switched.

ive done a few xe and let conversions into novas/corsas/tigras etc. for the xe to run you need 1. thick red from batt to starter 2.black/red stripe starter solenoid 3. earth strap 4. there should be another red, 2.5mm sort of size, this goes to the batt, live feed for ecu 5.thin black (usually over by connections for dizzy/coil) this is your switched live 6. red/blue stripe. this is the fuel pump + output (i only get this to work on astra gte engines, think the later ones have an immobiliser or something) if u dont get a pulse when the ignition is turned on, relay an output off the switched live and have an isolator switch on the dash so if ur working on the car with the ignition on u can turn it off.
the above will get it running
7.green. rev counter feed 8.blue. water temp gauge 9.blue/white stripe. battery light 10. blue/green.oil pressure (not sure if gauge or light) 11.blue/yellow.as above cant remember which one is which
