Just wondered if anyone has experience in converting a left hand drive kadett to right. I have been looking at kadetts in Germany and Holland and will be over there later this year. Theres definatlly more choice over there and Tony Fall converted the GTE's. I've looked at various pictures of the shells and it looks pretty simple to me. The only thing that looks hard is converting the wipers but i suppose you could just leave them be.

hi, ive not swapped over from right to left to right, started with rhd and swapped over to left and back again,
what we did was to take rhd kadett and use it to reshell a gte, so had to move over servo which was easy as we had the tony fall bar for brake peda and, clutch pedal- it sits on brake bar so unique to gte,
wipers replaced wiper panel and used lhd wipers so they go right way for gte and wrong for driving rhd,
electrics were converted crudely(tony fall) with block connectors, were a bit better on later gtes.
steering mount on dash was cut off and rewelded over in rhs( 2 m8 studs under dash)
throttle pedal used was floor mount as on manta a
so if that makes sense either move servo or leave where it is and make bar to operate brakes and clutch pedal, move steering column and fit rhd rack, change dash board, extend electrics or find rhd loom, leave wipers there livable throttle pedal.
i would recommend buying lhd kadett, go for larger engine model, and leave lhd, i had a lhd kadett a few years back 2.0e was a blast in lhd. you get used to it very quickly

I thought you could leave the brake master cylinder on the left. I had the idea of using parts from a mk 1 or 2 fiesta as they have a linkage that runs along the bulkhead to operate the master cylinder on the left side. I couldnt remember where the cylinder was mounted on my GTE. Have been looking on the German sites and there is quite a few GTE's advertised at varying price levels. When I'm over there i might check a couple out.
